The Governing Body (G.B.) occupies the highest position in the organizational structure of the college, with the Principal serving as its Secretary. The teaching and non-teaching staff operate under the guidance and administration of the Principal’s office. Academic matters are overseen by the Academic Council, which comprises all faculty members and is chaired by the Principal. This council plays a pivotal role in making critical decisions regarding academic affairs.
Matters such as service rule procedures, recruitment processes, and promotional policies are managed in strict adherence to the directives and regulations prescribed by the Department of Education (Higher), Government of Assam, as well as Gauhati University, to which Tezpur College is affiliated. The institution also has a well-functioning grievance redressal mechanism for both staff and students. Grievances submitted to the Grievance Redressal Cell are promptly reviewed and forwarded to the Principal for appropriate action.
Recruitment procedures are conducted in compliance with the guidelines established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of Assam. The overall framework ensures transparency, accountability, and a commitment to maintaining high institutional standards.
The conduct of sessional examinations within the college showcases an exemplary model of decentralization. These examinations, organized prior to the odd and even semester-end exams conducted by Gauhati University, underline the institution’s autonomy in managing its internal academic processes. A key aspect of this decentralization lies in the collective decision-making process for scheduling examination dates. By involving faculty members and administrative staff in dedicated meetings, the system ensures that diverse perspectives contribute to planning. This participatory approach promotes transparency and accountability, while also building a collaborative environment.
The institution exemplifies participative management through its diverse committees dedicated to various activities. Committees such as the magazine, prospectus, cultural, and audit management not only facilitate the smooth functioning of these distinct areas but also encourage active involvement from faculty, staff, and even students. Each committee operates autonomously while adhering to the institution's overarching goals, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability among members. Together, these committees embody a collaborative ecosystem, ensuring that all stakeholders contribute meaningfully to the institution's growth and success.
