On 9th April 2025, the Department of Physics, Tezpur College organized an institutional visit to the Centre of Plasma Physics – Institute for Plasma Research (CPP-IPR), located in Sonapur, Kamrup. CPP-IPR is an autonomous institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. The visit aimed to expose students to the field of plasma physics and to enhance their academic understanding of the subject. A total of 17 students from the B.Sc. 2nd and 4th semesters participated in the program. They were accompanied by Dr. Debojyoti Nath, Head of the Department, and Dr. Tonuj Deka, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Tezpur College. The visit commenced with an insightful introductory lecture on plasma—the fourth state of matter—delivered by Dr. Rakesh Moulick, Scientific Officer - D, CPP-IPR. Following the session, students were taken on a guided tour of the institute’s various research laboratories. During this tour, they interacted with research scholars and scientists, gaining valuable knowledge about different plasma discharge techniques and the practical aspects of plasma generation and its uses. The institutional visit proved to be highly educational and enriching. It successfully sparked a deeper interest in plasma physics among the participating students and provided them with a glimpse into the world of advanced scientific research.
